ABOUT PEROUSE DENTAL
Starting in a heritage listed butlers cottage on Perouse Road to the current surgery, Perouse Dental has been part of The Spot community since 1980.
Ray Delohery started the practice from scratch and has lovingly grown it into the proud family practice it is today. Providing the local community and surrounding area with reliable, high quality dental care.
December 2019, Dr Cristina Lawrence was fortunate enough to take over the reins of the surgery,
christening it Perouse Dental.
Cristina has been a patient of Ray’s since she was 4 years old, with her mother taking her and her brother across the road to the butlers cottage for their first dental appointments.
Growing up just down the road from the current surgery, she has been a part of the local community her entire life, attending school locally at Rainbow Street and Claremont College for her primary years.
After her first degree of a Bachelor Medical Science at University of New South Wales, she went on to further her education with a Bachelor of Dentistry at Sydney University. After 11 years at a surgery close by, she honed her clinical skills from some great mentors, providing her with a strong clinical foundation.
A natural born explorer, she enjoys spending time in the bush, the sea and travelling overseas. As a keen ocean swimmer, Cristina has completed the Rottnest channel swim, an iconic 19.7km swim from Perth to Rottnest Island. For the moment, she has hung up her long-distance cozzies and is enjoying learning the ins & outs of the business side of Dentistry.
She is also an active patrolling member of Bronte Surf Club and enjoys being involved with the club and helping the new Bronze Medallion hopefuls with their surf swimming skills training with the “6am Wednesday with Garry” group. Make sure you say hello if you’re down at Bronte Beach on a Saturday afternoon, and remember to swim between the flags!
Like Ray, she is a keen Rugby fan, and has made her way to watch 3 Rugby World Cups so far and is a long-suffering Waratahs life member.
After a long, successful career practicing Dentistry, Dr Ray Delohery retired at the end of 2021. From his early few years at Dr Cruikshank’s surgery in Woollahra to his present location in The Spot and finally selling his busy practice to Cristina, he has had a rich and fulfilling career. He’s spending some more time on the golf course, travelling around Australia (for the moment) with his lovely wife Kerrie and watching his gorgeous grandchildren grow up around him. He will be missed at the practice, and we wish him all the best on a well-deserved retirement.
